I know that dating white guys is the norm in the industry, but that does not mean that I am better than them. As a black woman who works as a model, I am still one of the lowest paid models, yet the number of white models and actresses getting paid more than me are decreasing every year. This is not okay, and I want to know why. I'm looking forward to seeing some of my black friends get famous, but that doesn't mean that I should have to be a model just so I can feel like I have value. I think there are some pretty obvious things that have to change about black culture to make it a more attractive to the white market. I want to see black people being celebrated more, and I think that's the case with most black people, but the way I see it, black culture needs to stop being defined by black people, and instead, I see black people being seen as a positive role model and the way to deal with a lot of black problems is to accept black people for who they are.
